Shaftesbury Festival of Food & Drink 2016

There were record numbers of visitors to this year’s Shaftesbury Food & Drink Festival on Sunday 15th May.  Dorset’s beautiful hilltop town was bursting with a variety of sights, sounds, smells and tastes, and all in brilliant sunshine.

Festival visitors were delighted by the wonderful array of cakes at the Wonky Cake Company stall, in addition to the many other tempting food stalls. Chefs demonstrated their culinary delights in the cookery theatre to a very enthusiastic audience who were all keen to sample the dishes (the two chefs from the new Rick Stein restaurant in Sandbanks will also be cooking at the Wimborne Minster Food & Drink Festival in October).

Steps in Time maypole dancing in the Abbey Gardens was much enjoyed and provided free admission to the Abbey on festival day.  Festival entertainment also included live music from bands on Park Walk, together with the annual Cheese Run on Gold Hill, which attracted a record number of entries.

Sponsors & Supporters 2016

The Shaftesbury Food & Drink Festival could not be staged without the significant support from our sponsoring organisations. We would like to thank the following companies and organisations for their help:

Tops Day Nurseries is a friendly and active chain of nurseries based across Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset.  The nurseries offer a caring and nurturing environment, with child-care to fit around parents’ days, and low-sugar menus.

BV Dairy hails from a farming background, understands all aspects of the dairy industry, and is proud of a strong relationship with the local farming community.  Our milk comes from herds of healthy, happy cows from Red Tractor-accredited farms within a 25-mile radius.
