Shaftesbury Fire Fighter Ash Mitchel realises he may be at a slight disadvantage for the Mens Gold Hill Cheese Race Final.

Not only did he contend with a 25kg 'cheese' but also 35kg of full breathing apparatus.

Top marks that man!

Like to see the other competitors carrying the extra weight up the hill!

WOW. What a day that was! The sun shone, the town was packed, the food, drink and laughter flowed, records tumbled on the hill, and fun was had by all.

Thank you so much to all the organisers, traders, chefs, marshalls, cheese competitors and of course, the lovely people of Shaftesbury for making it all happen.

We'll update with more detail and pictures, but for now, the kettle is on and the feet are up.

Happy.

HELP!

We are urgently looking for someone who could be able to film some footage of the cheese racing on Sunday. It would need to be broadcast quality, so no pressure there!

Send us a message if you're up to the challenge. Thank you.

We are loving the bunting in the town for the Food Festival on Sunday.

Huge thanks to the fantastic support of the Shaftesbury & District Chamber of Commerce who have provided the town with these fantastic new decorations, and Shaftesbury own Decor By Georgie who made it, it will be flying high above the High Street all the way through to the Shaftesbury Fringe in July.Thank you- to Ray, Rob, James and Ella (and Bronwen-not pictured) who gave up their Friday night so our town will look vibrant, colourful and welcoming this spring and summer. The bunting brightens up #Shaftesbury for us residents and for our visitors. #Shaftesbury Shaftesbury Fringe Shaftesbury & District Chamber of Commerce Shaftesbury Food & Drink Festival

Join in the Food Festival fun. Our friends at the Shaftesbury & District Chamber of Commerce have teamed up with many of our lovely High Street shops to run a Window Competition from the 3rd to the 12th May.

All you need to do is match the shop with the country by finding the clue in the shops window, then write the number of the country against the shop on the entry form.

All correct entries will be entered into a draw for a fantastic hamper, which you will be able to see by popping into Cranbornes. Entries close at 1pm on Sunday 12th May, the final draw will be made at 2pm.

Entry forms can be downloaded from shaftesburyfestival.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/food-and-drink-fest-quiz-19.pdf
